The month of August was a complicated one for the Italian financial market, hanging on the thread of a crisis of Government that broke out on the beach. At the moment it seems that investors are convinced that in any case things will not change too much, but the test is in the coming days, when really everyone will be back from vacation (all that taking into account that there is always the war of duties between the US and China in the background ).
And there you will also understand what will happen to the various m&a deals in progress. It is difficult to imagine that foreign investors do not decide to put the negotiations on stand-by. We have already seen the movie.
Too bad, because international investors seem to like Italian companies more and more. It was a pleasant surprise for BeBeez too, which is one of many contributors to Factiva, the Dow Jones online service that monitors all the major newspapers in the world and allows users to search and read all articles in the original language apon subscription. In turn, Factiva pays publishers a royalty in exchange for making the articles available on its platform.
Well, analyzing the latest access data to the BeBeez articles by Factiva users, we have discovered that overtaking has been consolidated for some months now. The royalties that Factiva pays to EdiBeez srl for the English version of BeBeez have exceeded by far those paid for the Italian version. It clearly means that there are many more accesses to the English version, therefore usable to foreign readers, almost twice as many as those to the Italian version.
And where are based our English version readers? Here too come some surprises. Factiva statistics tell us that about a quarter of these readers are in the United States, about a fifth are in the United Kingdom, just under a fifth are in India (India ?!) and just over a seventh in Italy. While in the rest of Europe there is a bit of interest only from France, while for the rest interest is little or nothing. Obviously this statistic applies to what it’s worth. We are talking about small numbers. But they are figures having some weight in the business world as we are not talking about generic readers. BeBeez readers are all professionals in the private capital sector: they are investors, investment bankers, financial and legal advisors, private bankers, entrepreneurs, professors and university students. It is worth thinking about it. The international private capital keeps Italy well under control.
Happy reading and welcome back!
